Recyclable Packaging 

This is probably the most popular for a good reason, and it’s something that is definitely a hot trend. People like recyclable packaging for a few reason. The most obvious being the environmental results and impact on this. Plus, it also gets people inspired and excited to purchase the items that are being marketed, so it does get them to pay a bit more for that, simply cause the packaging has this incentive to it. 

Paper, cardboard, metal, and plastic can be recycled in most cause very easily through single stream recycling. This is something that does have a few downsides if you go single stream though, with that being that they may get messed up with contaminants such as food, adhesives, or liquids too, and usually, when contaminated, they end up in landfills. It’s important that if you do recycling, you have a good way for customers to remove anything that’ll contaminate it, in order to keep everything together and to keep it lasting a bit longer.

The other kind of sustainable packaging that some people really enjoy is flexible packaging, which is basically packaging that’s molded and bent out of the shape that it was originally, and it’s a malleable form of packaging, enticing them to inspect everything with their hands too. 

This is of course, packages that stand up, shrink and stretch film, along with the packaging that’s carded as forms of flexible packaging. With this, they do have a lower carbon footprint than of course, cardboard, glass, metal, and other alternatives. This is something that offers a solution which is sustainable, and highly recyclable too! This is something that does need to be kept pretty much not contaminated, but it does take up a lot less space in most cases. But flexible packaging is the best for those who care about the environmental impact that they have and also is another alternative. However the one downside to flexible packaging is that they’re only recycled when sent to third-party companies, so it definitely is something that you should look at and weigh in on the options. 

Biodegradable Packaging 

This is known as compostable packaging, and usually is made from plant polymers. This has gotten insanely popular as of late, with many consumers getting products because they do have a lower impact on the planet too. This is something that you definitely want to consider in most cases. The one downside to this one though, is that it does need to be gotten rid of in one of two ways: either through a compost place at home which you can feed into, or of course, a composting facilities that does it for you.
